Case study · SaaS
We built the shop software, then ran a shop on it.
Garage Bae is the operating system for custom and automotive shops: quotes, work orders, invoices, and payments in one place. We designed it, built it, and run it for Ernie's Custom Shop, which is also the shop that tells us when it is wrong.
The feature arguments get settled by someone with a truck on a lift, not by a roadmap meeting.
Why it exists
Custom shops run on a quote that changes three times, parts that arrive in the wrong order, and a customer who wants a number before anyone has touched the vehicle. The general-purpose invoicing tools handle none of that well, and the automotive tools are written for dealership service lanes, where the work is known before it starts.
Garage Bae is built for the case where it is not: a quote that carries its own revision history, work orders that survive a parts delay, and a payment step that does not require the customer to be standing at the counter.
The part that makes it different
It runs a real shop, daily, with real money moving through it. When an invoice does not send, someone calls us the same morning, and they are not filing a ticket about a hypothetical.
That is also the uncomfortable part, and it is the point. Every feature we might have shipped on a hunch gets checked against a Tuesday afternoon in Vernon Hills first.
What we do with it
We designed it, we built it, and we operate it: the deploys, the database, the payment integration, the support call when something is wrong. There is no vendor to escalate to, which is the arrangement we sell everywhere else on this site.
